Shelf labels for liquor stores

A liquor shelf edge has to carry more than a price. Size and ABV decide the sale between two bottles that look identical, and the tag has to survive being knocked by every customer who picks up the bottle behind it.

What belongs on a liquor store shelf tag

PriceThe reason the tag exists.
Bottle size750ml against 1.75L is the whole comparison, and the bottle itself rarely shows it at shelf height.
ABVCraft beer and spirits shoppers compare it directly, and it is the field most often missing from POS exports.
Product name and brandShelf tags get separated from bottles during restocking; the name is what puts them back.
UPC barcodeShelf scanning for price audits and reorder.
Cash and card priceWhere you pass card fees through, both numbers have to be on the tag.

Price changes come in waves, not one at a time

Distributor price changes arrive as a list covering dozens of SKUs at once, usually at the start of a month. Retagging those by hand is the job that eats an evening, which is why importing a spreadsheet and reprinting only the changed items matters more here than label design does.

What to print on

Most liquor stores run a thermal roll printer behind the counter for one-off retags and Avery sheets for a full reset. The 1" x 2-5/8" 30-up sheet is the common shelf-edge size; 2.25" x 1.25" is the usual roll.

How it works

  1. Import your products from a spreadsheet, a POS export, or a photo of a price list.
  2. Pick one of the designs above, or build your own.
  3. Choose the stock you have — Avery sheets, Dymo, Zebra, Brother, or plain paper.
  4. Export the PDF and print it at actual size.
